I have worked with people who have disabilities since I was in high school. I attended college at Humboldt State University and the University of Montana, Missoula.
In 1987 I wrote, established and managed the first Supported Employment program in Southwest Missouri at the Developmental Center of the Ozarks.
The mission of Supported employment is to help people who have severe disabilities find, learn and maintain competitive employment in jobs of their interest within their community.
I left DCO and to set up another supported employment program at the Springfield Sheltered Workshop in 1992. We helped hundreds of people find, learn and maintain competitive employment.
I retired in 2000 and founded an organization called Community Employment, Inc. with the sole mission of competitive community employment. Community Employment is helping hundreds of people find competitive employment annually.
In 2006 I founded Employment Supports, Inc. in Nevada Missouri and I am currently the Administrative Manager. We continue to assist people into competitive employment while educating employers and the community about the abilities of people who have disabilities.
